I have telephone directory pages and i want to scan them and put into ms word format. can i do it?

I will use my scanner to do this.|||This really doesn't deal specifically with "Programming %26amp; Design" so it's in the wrong category. Delete it and ask the question again in the "General - Computers %26amp; Internet" category.|||you will need a OCR software. most scanner comes with one. scan your pages with that software, it will save the words on the page as TEXTS in the computer., then organize it and save it.|||With good OCR software you could technically do it. Legally you'd need the permission of the phone company who printed the book|||No, but you can save them as PDF format if your software allows you to.|||why dont you just look the numbers up online instead of scanning an entire directory?

you MUST not be from a big city..|||Sure. You can scan any pictures into MS Word , but if you want to be able to EDIT this list, you need to make sure you have some kind of OCR software ( OCR --%26gt; Optical Character Recognition ) that should have come with your scanner.

This is assuming you want to scan it in 1 time and just make updates from there.|||yes you can ofcourse do it...

there are softwares called OCR, that converts the scanned images into editable text...

be warned these are not a 100% accurate... printed text gets converted better...

but handwriting gets lesser accuracy... but once it gets trained... thats after a few pages... it gets trained automatically it does it even more accurate...

softwares like aaby fine reader... and so on are available

if your directory is online ... most telecom companies do have that... then why do you have to bother doing this?

thnx
